Basamad Automatic Kiln
efficient and sustainable, up to 50% less fuel
Basamad Automatic Kiln
What is Basamad Automatic Kiln?
- Basamad Automatic Kiln (BAK) is an optimized kind of the traditional Hoffmann kiln. It is basically an updated Hoffmann Kiln, equipped with computerized control tools. It is approved by UNIDO, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and IFCO, Iran Fuel Conservation Company, a subsidiary of NIOC, National Iranian Oil Company. BAK technology is applicable to every other type of traditional brick kiln.
How is BAK different with traditional Hoffmann Kilns?
- As for the construction and building, BAK operates on the existing Hoffmann Kilns and therefore, does not need any deconstructions or demolitions.
- BAK is equipped with an electronic control system, allowing the user to instantly monitor the brickmaking process, both on- and off-line. As such, BAK provides the traditional Hoffmann Kiln with the capabilities of a modern Tunnel kiln without any changes to the kiln itself.
What are its advantages?
- BAK is the first optimized variety of the Hoffmann Kiln in the world with major improvements in its efficiency and sustainability.
- BAK models consume up to 50% less fuel compared to conventional Hoffmann kilns. At the same time, BAK models increase brick production capacity of a Hoffman kiln by up to 100%.
- BAK is a cost-effective solution to Hoffmann Kiln problems, and the payback period is less than two years.
- BAK provides a more homogeneous brickmaking process, and therefore reduces the possibility of over-burnt, under-burnt, unburnt and half-burnt bricks, resulting in a uniformly stable brick quality and a sharp drop in the amount of brickmaking wastage.
- Basamad Control & Monitoring Software (BCMS) is a powerful tool for the instant monitoring the kiln performance. BCMS regulates the brickmaking process by eliminating system failures resulted from human error.
- The Fire-Control subsystem offers the ultimate solution to the problem of nighttime firing reduction. The feature precludes excessive firing by activating the fire-limiter module in the maximum temperature period of the firing zone, and as a result successfully prevents overheating. Consequently, the problem of nighttime firing reduction and the resulting massive temperature drop is totally solved.
- BAK technology is applicable to every other type of traditional brick kiln.
What parts does a BAK include?
- The Basamad Automatic Kiln includes hardware and software parts, working in tandem.
- The hardware includes sensors, transmitters, and control valves. All parts are designed and manufactured by Basamad Co., and are installed on the kiln by the company’s official representative.
- The Basamad Control & Monitoring Software is the interface through which the operator controls the brickmaking process. The software is installed on a Basamad-authorized PC and is placed in the control room of the kiln.
What does the hardware do?
- Control valves instantly control the fuel input (natural gas / petroleum) to the kiln.
- Type K thermocouples measure the temperature in the preheating, firing, and cooling zones and transmit the data to the computer. The operator can monitor the data through the user-friendly graphic simulation of the Basamad Control & Monitoring Software.
What does the software do?
- Authorized users (i.e. the burner, technical manager, and the chief executive) can instantly monitor and/or control the status of the kilns, simply using the web browser on their smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs or any other devices.
- BCMS saves the history of unlimited brickmaking cycles which will be used for future analyses. The history is sorted into various categories such as the chamber, type of brick being made (burnt brick, hollow bricks, fire bricks, air bricks, etc.), the exact date and time of brickmaking, and the burner in charge of the making process. Consequently, BCMS users have access to a rich database that makes it possible to analyze the kiln performance over a desired span of time.
- BCMS makes it possible to instantly monitor the temperature inside any chamber, regardless of its position to the fire (that is, regardless of the fact that it is in the preheating, firing or cooling zone). The temperature graph captures the changes in the temperature and provides an accurate report of the way any individual chamber’s fuel consumption.
- BCMS enjoys an audio alarm system that will emit a warning alarm when detecting an error in the kiln performance. The audio alarm system is accompanied with dialogue box warnings on the software to ascertain the operator is aware the status of the kiln.
